Hamburg, March 21, 2023 – The congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg-Winterhude will be holding a memorial service for the victims and their relatives at 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25, 2023, at the Alsterdorf Sports Hall in Hamburg.
“We are very grateful to the City of Hamburg, and especially to the First Mayor, Dr. Tschentscher, that we were able to find a suitable venue near the affected community in the Alsterdorf Sports Hall. This corresponds with the wishes of the affected victims, the great outpouring of sympathy, and the significance of the event,” explains Michael Tsifidaris, spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Hamburg.
The relatives of the bereaved, the surviving victims, and 53 Hamburg congregations of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be attending this service. In addition, representatives from politics, public agencies, and diplomatic corps have been invited. Due to limited space, the funeral service will not be open to the public. The Hamburg-Winterhude congregation thanks you for your understanding. Representatives of the press will be able to attend the memorial service by invitation. A TV broadcast is currently being considered.
The memorial address will be given by a representative of the Central Europe branch. In addition, a member of the Governing Body of Jehovah’s Witnesses will be speaking. Michael Tsifidaris: “We would like to thank the people far beyond Hamburg for their great sympathy. For those who would like to address personal lines to the relatives, a book of condolence is available at Hamburg City Hall.”
