Jehovah’s Witnesses are an international Christian religious community. We live in 239 countries and territories, and have more than 8.6 million Bible teachers from all walks of life. We are united across all national borders by a common goal: to promote Christian values that engender peace and non-violence.
Our name is based on a statement from God recorded at Isaiah 43:10: “ ‘You are my witnesses,’ declares Jehovah”.
Jehovah (or Yahweh) is the personal name of God and appears some 7,000 times in the Bible. Many translations replace this name with the title “LORD”. Our objectives, way of life and organisational structure follow the pattern set by the early Christians. All teachings are based on the Bible.
